NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamian version of the United States’ amber alert, the MARCO alert has been creating a buzz recently but how effective is the alert in finding those people?

The startling sound caught many Bahamians by surprise, as the recent MARCO alerts circulated to phones nationwide.

The MARCO alert named after 11-year-old Marco Archer who was kidnapped near his home and later murdered back in 2011, is aimed at keeping the public aware about missing children, and in some cases missing adults – in hopes of finding them alive and well.

Today residents are weighing in on the effectiveness of the alert.

And some residents feel the alerts could include more details.
