GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Beach erosion, sustainability and opportunities for Bahamians – these are the top concerns of residents of Grand Bahama as the Weller Development Group seeks to construct a luxury hotel and residence development over the next few years.

President of Weller Development Mark Weller says his company has an eye on those concerns.

The 36-acre property will cater to clients interested in health, wellness and sustainability. Weller says it will be a unique luxury resort with a variety of amenities.

Central Grand Bahama Member of Parliament Iram Lewis says he believes this is the project that will spur an economic uptick for the island.

Assistant Director in the Department of Environmental Planning and Protection Aranah Pyfrom says although every project presents its unique challenges, the concerns raised by residents were generally expected.

Phase one of the project is expected to be complete by 2026.
