NASSAU, BAHAMAS – St Augustine’s College leading after day one of the private school track and field action in the championships on New Providence.

SAC jumping out to the lead after the first day of events at the Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools, tallying just over 400 points to sit ahead of second place Queens College, St Johns College in third and St Annes in the fourth spot. Track and field action will continue through Friday at the Thomas A Robinson Stadium.

Over to tennis where our junior Davis Cup Team has advanced to the semifinals. The Bahamas defeating Nicaragua 3-0 yesterday as the doubles team of William McCarthney and Jackson MacTaggert won 3-6, 6-4,10-8 to advance to main draw of the semifinals against Dominican Republic.

New Providence Volleyball Association Championships continued last night. On the ladies’ side, the Panthers taking down the Johnson Spikers 3 sets to 1. 25-27, 25-20, 25-9 and 25-12.

Panthers win the series and the championship 3 games to 1 in the best of five. On the men’s side, the Defenders able to outlast the Warhawks 3 sets to 1. 25-16, 20-25, 25-20 and 25-22. The win for the Defenders means the series now tied at 2-2 with a deciding game 5 looming.

Finally, to the NBA, we go as Deandre Ayton and the Suns debuting Kevin Durant for the first time since acquiring him in a trade.

Durant scoring 23 as the suns beat the hornets 105-91. Ayton played 33 minutes and finished with 16 points, 16 rebounds 4 assists and a block. Suns now look to make a push in the standing. They are currently 4th in the Western Conference.
