NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The 31st annual Caribbean Water and Waste Association Conference and Exhibition coming to a close today. Following a week long conference, some 50 Caribbean delegates got a first-hand look at the Consolidated Water Bahamas facility.

The Consolidated Water Bahamas Windsor Fields plant is responsible for supplying the island with 30 percent of its water needs while the “Blue Hill” plant supplies the other 70 percent. General Manager, Henderson Cash, says their primary job is to produce bulk desalinated water for portable usage to households and businesses.

Consolidated Water Bahamas signed a public private partnership with the government back in 2018. Rolle added that they try to operate the plant as energy efficient as possible.

Parts of the island have been plagued with flooding issues in recent months, but Rolle says the plant has not been affected.

The plant employs some 20 individuals, one of them being Operations Manager, Owen Rolle.

He says the process from salty, to fresh water, happens in less than one minute.
