CUBA – The impact of that 6.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Cuba’s southeastern coast was felt across the Caribbean with effects felt in Jamaica, Haiti, and some parts of Florida.

It’s another blow to the country, that’s still recovering from the impact of two hurricanes.

In the aftermath, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a travel advisory for Bahamians in Cuba, encouraging them to follow all local instructions and take necessary precautions.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Fred Mitchell says he’s in contact with embassy staff on the island.

Jamaica, was also impacted with back-to-back quakes felt in the country as well yesterday.

Alveta Knight, who heads the consulate general in Kingston Jamaica says all Bahamians, specifically University of The West Indies students are accounted for.

In the past, we’ve supported countries suffering from natural disasters before such has Haiti over the years, or Grenada that was devastated by Hurricane Beryl.

Mitchell says Cuba, will also receive support from the region.
