NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Texas Rangers continue to mine for diamonds in the rough and explore the Bahamian market for local prospects.
Jayln Pinder became the latest to join the rangers organization when he signed his minor league deal Saturday afternoon at Superclubs Breezes.
Pinder, a 16-year-old infield/outfield prospect out of the International Elite Sports Academy, said the event was a milestone not just for him, but for others following in his footsteps.
Pinder left Monday for the Dominican Republic join the club’s farm system in preparation for rookie baseball.
He becomes the fourth Bahamian to join the farm system of the 2023 World Series Champions.
Pinder joins top overall prospect Sebastian Walcott, Rashawn Pinder, and Dave Neely in the pipeline.

Another active weekend for collegiate athletes in NCAA Division I track and field produced PR times and spots in the record books for their respective programs.
Tennessee quartermiler Javonya Valcourt ran the third fastest 300m time in volunteer history at Clemson’s Orange and Purple Invite in South Carolina.
She was the top collegiate athlete in the field and finished third with a new personal best of 37.32 secs.
At the Red Raider Invite in Lubbock, Texas, Antoine Andrews continues an incredible start to his indoor season.
The Texas Tech junior ran his second personal best in as many weeks – 6.58 secs to finish third in the 60m.
Liberty University senior Indea cCrtwright took first place in the 60mh at Brant Tolsma Invitational in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Cartwright won the meet title for a second consecutive year in a season-best 8.39 seconds.
In the field, Wyoming freshman Koi Adderley competed in the second meet of her collegiate career.’
She finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m at the bobcat challenge in montana.
NCAA Women’s Basketball
The grueling schedule for Coach Yo, Rhema Collins and oOe Miss Women’s Basketball Team continued Sunday, but their upset bid against a top 10 team fell just short.
Ole Miss fell to 13-6, 4-3 in the sec on the season with a 61-58 loss to the no.7 ranked Texas longhorns Sunday at the SJB Pavilion in Mississippi.
Coach Yo’s team had their calling card defensive intensity on display and limited the longhorns to 39 percent shooting and its second-lowest scoring total of the season.
The Longhorns improved to 20-2, and 6-1 in the SEC.
Texas outscored ole miss 16-11 in the fourth quarter, including a 5-0 run to end the game.
Ole miss continues conference play thursday night on the road against georgia.
