NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The homecoming tour for Jonquel Jones came with a series of memorable highlights both for her and for many Bahamians who came out to celebrate Bahamian history.

The series of events which dated back to last week in Grand Bahama culminated in a girls only basketball camp headlined by Jones and members of the Junior National Team coaching staff.

Jones reflected on the week of successful events and focused on the positive reception she received from the Bahamian public.

Jones’ career has been filled with a list of Bahamian firsts, but she also made note of how special it was to bring the first WNBA championship to the New York Liberty franchise, a team that had been favored to win it all for the last two seasons.

NCAA Women’s Basketball

On to another Bahamian basketball icon – this one getting it done on the sidelines. Yolett McPhee-McCuin reached another milestone with her 200th career win.

Coach Yo led Ole Miss to a 76-44 over Jackson State on Monday at the SJB Pavillion in Mississippi.

It was also her 106th win in her seven years at the helm in Oxford which has included a single season record for SEC wins and three straight NCAA tournament appearances.

Prior to Ole Miss, Coach Yo racked up 94 wins in five seasons at Jacksonville, and transformed them to an NCAA tournament team out of the A-Sun conference.

Minor League Baseball

An extended season for Kristian Robinson came to end with a championship celebration in the Arizona fall league.

Robinson and his Salt River Rafters claimed 2024 AFL title with a 3-2 win over the surprise Saguaros.

The 24-year old Diamondbacks prospect hit .319 with a .405 on base percentage, and slugged .449 with nine steals in 19 games.

Robinson, once Arizona’s no. 1 prospect, spent the entire year at the aa level with the Amarillo Sod Poodles.
