NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Nassau Cruise Port recently joined an international initiative, the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program.

Regional Director of Marketing, Maya Nottage, explains that it’s all about encouraging inclusivity, acceptance and understanding.

If you live with a non-visible disability, you wear a lanyard displaying a sunflower, and that allows those around you to be aware that you may need extra assistance.

Nottage explains that she is a parent to a high functioning autistic daughter, which made the initiative extra special for her.

She says since implementing training on property, a number of staff members have become more sensitive to those living with hidden disabilities.

She says that she hope the message of inclusivity spreads beyonds the walls of the cruise port.
