GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Cyber security remains a major global concern,and right here at home, its importance is more evident than ever.

A cyber security expert shared vital information with companies and business at the recent Grand Bahama Business Outlook.

As more and more we see how important it is to safeguard ourselves while using the World Wide Web, especially in light of recent incidents like the hacking of the University of The Bahamas’ system.

At the Grand Bahama Business Outlook, Shakera Johnson, Director of Information Security at the Cable Bahamas Group of Companies, explained the potential consequences for companies if their systems aren’t properly protected.

She adds that a single breach can wipe out years of progress.

Johnson further explains that cyber criminals are becoming more crafty with the use of artificial intelligence.

She cautioned that even if a ransom is paid, there’s no guarantee that your information will be returned.

Johnson encourages everyone to stay safe while on the internet and to remain vigilant.
