NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The sweet sounds, rhythm, and beauty of Junkanoo is making a comeback after a two-year hiatus. Next Saturday the Junkanoo Summer Festival will bring all walks of life together, including visitors.

Our Sasha Lightbourne has the story.

On July 2, the highly anticipated Junkanoo Summer Festival will return to the grounds of Arawak Cay.

The COVID-19 pandemic halted the festival for the past two years, but the Ministry of Tourism’s Director of Authentic Events, Charity Armbrister, expects the return will be bigger and better than years before.

And here’s what patrons can expect.

Heritage games will include pineapple eating, melon eating, and crab catching; there will be a sip and paste area and also for the very first time – a kiddies cultural village.
