NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Holy Week, also called Passion Week, spans the last eight days of Lent, from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, offers Christians across the world a time to ponder on the transformation brought by Jesus’ death and sacrifice on the cross. 

Throughout the week, denominations worldwide will host a myriad of services. 

But what is Holy Week and what is the meaning behind the celebrations?  

Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese in The Bahamas, Patrick Pinder telling us.

For the Anglicans, the week begins with a series of services and rituals that follow the traditional Christian observances, including Palm Sunday, Holy Monday, Holy Tuesday and Holy Wednesday when all the Anglicans gather at Christ Church Cathedral for the blessing of the oils that will be used throughout the remainder of the year.  

What is the significance? Assistant Curate at St. Agnes Anglican Church Rev’d Deacon Howard Bethel says it is extremely important to the Christian faith.

How can we keep this tradition alive for the generation? Both men of the cloth had this response.
