U.S.A. – Boise State University played its annual spring game this past Saturday with rising sophomore wideout Prince Strachan featured in their new-look offense under incoming offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.

Although the offense still has some ironing out to do with the departure of OC Bush Hamdan to Kentucky a couple of months ago and with the team’s most experienced returning QB Maddux Madsen on the sidelines with an injury, Strachan looked sharp showcasing his impressive size and speed on this corner route.

He also got big on an option route to put his team on the 2-yard line.

Overall, the defense won the day for the Broncos outpacing the offense 47-29 in their scoring system. Boise State fans shouldn’t read too much into the results as former Defensive Coordinator Spencer Danielson was promoted to head coach after last season and former starting quarterback Taylen Green transferred to Arkansas, assuring a ton of continuity and experience for the defense and very little for the offense.

Sophomore quarterback Malachi Nelson, a former five-star recruit from the University of Southern California showed what all the hype around him coming out of high school was about, going 9-13 with a touchdown showing impressive mobility and playmaking ability both inside and outside the pocket.

Stud running back Ashton Jeanty also averaged over 10 yards per attempt.

Strachan has a slew of weapons all around him: a gunslinging quarterback under center, one of the best running backs in the nation, a veteran college and NFL coach to figure out how to tie everything together, and a whole summer to improve.

Look for his sophomore year to be his coming-out party.
