NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Three law enforcement officers are facing charges after prosecutors say they were involved in a drug trafficking conspiracy.

Police Inspector Alcott Forbes, Police Corporal Brendan Dean, and Raemond Russell, a leading mechanic in the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, are accused of conspiring to import 400 kilos of cocaine into the country between November 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022.

Prosecutors say the men also conspired to export the cocaine and possess it with intent to supply during the same period.

Forbes, Dean, and Russell denied the allegations at their arraignment before Acting Chief Magistrate Ancella Evans, who set bail at $50,000 each.

The men are scheduled to return to court on October 20 for the start of their trial.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Security and Intelligence Branch into a series of voice notes that went viral on social media last year.
