NASSAU, BAHAMAS – One of the hottest DJs and an aspiring photographer met more than ten years ago, and now own a chain of businesses that are leading the entertainment industry.
Judah Forbes – Entrepreneur
“Najee Dun was the person that just brought everybody together, like, ‘This is Justin.’
I remember riding in Justin’s car and he didn’t even know I was riding.
He come to pick up Najee and say, ‘Yeah bey, this my brethren, he riding with us.’
And he driving this little Maxima, ya know.”
This is Justin Bootle and Judah Forbes, reliving the memories of how they met.
At the time, Justin was a DJ known as DJ Bugz, and Judah was a timid young man who had just begun developing a love for photography.
Now, the popular duo have established business ventures together like NDO Films, Party Masters, Picture Perfect Photo Booth, and the blockbuster party, Hide Bahamas.
The two tell me their friendship blossomed as they shared the same passion for entrepreneurship.
For more than a decade, they’ve strengthened their bond with this key strategy:
Justin Bootle – Entrepreneur
“An important thing he and I understood is that, knowing each other’s weaknesses.
You know, there are some things Judah is great at and some things I’m great at.
And I think everything that we have now was built on that, and we still understand that, and honor that, and respect that.”
With several lucrative companies under their belt, they’ve had their share of failures, yet they persevered, using each unpleasant experience as a lesson in entrepreneurship.
Justin and Judah tell me that in the beginning, the luxuries of the industry were what kept them going, but as they’ve grown, their focus has shifted into creating a lifestyle of wealth for their families, a mindset that has molded them from boys to businessmen.
They share this word of advice for all the young men watching:
Justin Bootle – Entrepreneur
“The partying, the getting dressed and going away, it’s good, ya know.
I feel like that’s a phase that we have to go through. But on the flip side of that, I think it’s important to invest, you know, find ways to build your careers and build your life,
so when you get to a certain age, you don’t have to work too hard.”
Judah Forbes – Entrepreneur
“Seek guidance, meaning volunteer yourself, put your pride aside.
It’s not going to drop in your lap, the exact idea or business that you want.
The perfect person that is going to give you that advice is not going to be in the room next door to you. You have to, and social media makes it so easy for you. You can DM directors on the next side of the world. You can DM a photographer way in Africa.
You can comment, our work is getting exposed, our jokes are getting exposed.
People are giving you stuff to be entertained, and some people are giving you advice from all around the world. You don’t have to limit it to people you are close to.
So seek help, and put your pride aside.”
