CBL Donates $10K To Marsh Harbour Fire And Rescue

MARSH HARBOUR, BAHAMAS – Marsh Harbor Fire and Rescue Department Chief Danny Sawyer says repairs for their trucks are costly, and this is just one of the many expenses the department regularly incurs.

On Thursday, CBL stepped in to lend a helping hand, donating a check for ten thousand dollars to the department.

In attendance at the donation ceremony were Minister of Works and Family Island Affairs Clay Sweeting, Member of Parliament for North Abaco Kirk Cornish, Fire Officer Corporal Mark Bowleg, Chairman of the Marsh Harbor/Spring City Township Roscoe Thompson, and President of the Abaco Chamber of Commerce Chantelle Sands.

CEO of Cable Bahamas Group of Companies, Franklyn Butler, acknowledged the brave and swift response of the unit, crediting their efforts in containing a recent fire. He emphasized that the monetary donation was just the beginning.

“There’s lots to be done, but it all boils down to volunteers and corporate partners writing checks and putting their money where their mouth is to really make sure our communities strive.”

In addition to the financial contribution, communication devices were also provided to the unit to assist in future emergency responses.

Fire Officer Corporal Mark Bowleg expressed deep gratitude, not only for the donation, but also for the unwavering commitment and courage of the volunteers who serve the community.
