PLP Secures Historic Consecutive Win at the Polls

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On the heels of securing another five-year term, the Progressive Liberal Party was in celebration mode, taking their victory to Clifford Park, where party leader Philip Davis and Deputy Leader Chester Cooper addressed the crowd.

The sounds of victory filled the air as supporters showed up at the historic site after the party was deemed the unofficial winner of the 2026 General Election.

The party’s campaign slogan, “Choose Progress,” served as a request to the Bahamian people to vote the PLP back in office to continue the initiatives they began during their recently wrapped up first term in office, and that request was granted by voters.

For the first time in almost 30 years, a prime minister will assume office for two consecutive terms.

The unofficial results show that the PLP retained 33 out of 41 seats in the House of Assembly, the Free National Movement grabbed 8 seats, leaving the Coalition of Independents with no seats in Parliament.

Prime Minister-Elect Davis, and the majority of his cabinet ministers were re-elected, but National Security Minister Wayne Munroe was not as fortunate, losing his seat in Freetown to the FNM’s Lincoln Deal.

The PM told supporters last night that voters chose to let his administration continue their work.

“I have some news. I don’t know if y’all have heard it but the country has spoken. The Bahamian people have made their choice. Today the Bahamian people chose progress. Today the Bahamian people choose to move forward, forward with our plan, forward with our team and forward with my leadership.”

Davis also commended Free National Movement Leader Michael Pintard, highlighting the courage it takes for an individual to offer themselves for service.

“A while ago Michael Pintard called to concede the election. I thanked him for his graciousness in doing so, it takes courage to put your name on ballot. It is easy to sit on the sidelines and criticize than it is to climb in the arena yourself. So I would like to say to every candidate of every party, your participation in the process made our democracy stronger.”
