NASSAU , BAHAMAS – Tributes honoring the 10 souls lost in the plane crash on July 10 extended beyond the island of New Providence.

Artists from the local entertainment industry performed on stages throughout the country and even in the Turks and Caicos to pay tribute to the victims, including at the location that was meant to be the flight’s final destination, North Andros.

Sunday, July 12, marks the end of the All Andros Regatta 2026, a year in which the four-day festival will be marred by tragedy.

On July 10, a flight from New Providence crashed near the San Andros Airport with a reported 10 individuals onboard, including several of the country’s leading musicians and a popular disc jockey.

Relatives and friends of the victims say they were all excited to either perform or attend the event, but they never arrived, as they all perished in the crash.

However, amidst the nation’s grief, there was a moment of celebration for the souls who used their gifts to foster joy, love and culture through music.

Several artists used the stage as a memorial to those they once shared the spotlight with.

From Abaco, to Exuma, all the way in the Turks and Caicos, and in Andros.

Nishe L.S. was one of the performers booked for the event.

In a telephone conversation with me on Saturday, Nishe acknowledged her reluctance to make the trip to the island, yet explained she understood that not attending would be a disservice to her fallen colleagues.

“D-Mac and I had already decided to go there from Exuma on the boat there to Andros to pay tribute to them.”

Mullerz International served as one of the masters of ceremony for the event.

He said the performances were heartfelt expressions of remembrance.

“It was short and sweet and it was emotional, it was very emotional. Not in a very sad way, but like I say, you could feel the emotion.”
