NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 39-year-old Haitian man is behind bars, accused of obtaining a Bahamian passport by fraud.

Prosecutors allege Gaulthier Sinea used a forged NIB Smart Card to apply for the passport, which was issued on September 30th, 2024.

The court heard that after receiving the passport, Sinea allegedly took it to the National Insurance Board and attempted to obtain an NIB Smart Card.

Sinea denied the allegations through a creole interpreter when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Raquel Whymms.

He was denied bail and is due back in court on August 21st for a status hearing.
