Town Hall Held to Discuss High School Diploma
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Dozens of people attending a town hall meeting, Wednesday night where the topic of discussion was a review of the high school diploma.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Dozens of people attending a town hall meeting, Wednesday night where the topic of discussion was a review of the high school diploma.
Hosting the meeting was the national commission to review Bahamas high school diplomas.
In July, the Ministry of Education announced the formation of the commission.
Retired Grand Bahama Educator Cecil Thompson is the chairman. He says it’s much needed and commending the education minister for making it a mandate.
When the new commission was announced, Education Minister Glenys Hanna-Martin said their job is to study its core criteria, ensure its relevancy and set appropriate standards.
She says if deemed necessary, the commission will submit recommendations for adjustment or reform, but adds that the review is not an exercise to compromise standards.
