NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Former senator and Progressive Liberal Party Chairman Andrew “Dud” Maynard has died at the age of 82.

The nationalist, former senator, and PLP chairman is being remembered by his daughter and those who knew him as a giant of a man who never minced words.

His daughter, Nina Maynard, says her father was always a straightforward individual who was very involved in politics.

Dud, as he was affectionately known, is a name synonymous with the PLP.

She recalls being involved in every PLP convention and election campaign with her father.

Now, Dud leaves behind a home littered with memories for his wife, children, and grandchildren to reminisce on.

The daddy’s girl says she was always protective of her father and recalls the last conversation she had with him.

In a statement PLP Chairman Fred Mitchell said he was a tough man and spared no hold back in his words.

The 82-year-old is the father of the late Charles Maynard, the uncle of former attorney general Allyson Maynard-Gibson, and the brother of the late Clement Maynard.

The death of the former senator and PLP chairman now leaves a hole in the hearts of his relatives.
