NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prime Minister Philip Davis among those who paid respects to the late retired Justice Roger Gomez, in the Hansard Building, Thursday morning.

PM Davis says not only did Gomez make a lasting impact on the legal profession, but also left an impression on him personally.

Gomez was called to the Bahamas’ Bar in 1978 and practiced law in private chambers until 1989 when he joined the magistracy, serving as a stipendiary and circuit magistrate until 2004 when he was appointed chief magistrate.

In 2013 he became a Justice of the Supreme Court and was assigned to the family division.

The State Recognized Funeral for the retired justice will be held Friday at St. Agnes Anglican Church.
