Retired Justice Roger Gomez Passes

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Our News Team understands that Retired Justice of the Supreme Court Roger Gomez has died.
Gomez, who is the brother of Anglican Bishop Drexel Gomez, died in hospital on Monday.
He was called to the Bahamas’ Bar in 1978 and practiced law in private chambers until 1989 when he joined the magistracy.
Gomez served as a stipendiary and circuit magistrate until 2004 when he was appointed the chief magistrate.
In 2013 he became a justice of the supreme court and was assigned to the family division. He was also responsible for coordinating efforts at the development of a separate family court.
Justice Gomez is married to the former Gloria Bethel and they have three children, Michelle, Roger Jr. And Ricardo.
