NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 36-year-old man is behind bars after being charged with murder. 

Prosecutors say Michael Preval is responsible for the murder of Mateo Rolle, whose bullet-riddled body was found near Anatol Rodgers School on March 10. 

Preval was not required to plead to the charge when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.

Preval, who didn’t have a lawyer, told the magistrate that police officers denied him pain medicine for a pre-existing back injury.

The magistrate made a note of Preval’s complaint and remanded him into custody.Preval returns to court on June 29th to receive voluntary bill of indictment papers.
