Docu-Series to Explore Mental Effects of Hurricane Dorian

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Disaster Preparedness Month is being celebrated and while the main focus may be on physical and material preparedness, a communications professor is leading the charge to highlight the effects of disaster mental health.

She shares the importance of a docu-series in the making, D6.

Hurricane Dorian happened in September 2019, but the long term mental effects will be felt for decades to come.

This is currently being explored by Dr. Juliette Storr as she’s been in pre-production for a docu-series, titled D6, for the past 18 months.

Dr. Storr says she’s interviewed over 75 survivors exploring the economic, social and mental impacts.

Dr. Storr says the entire production will cost some $125,000 and they are seeking help in raising funds. The goal is to begin filming this summer..

She says it’s important to remember that every survivor deals with their experiences and trauma differently and if a loved one expresses their feelings to you, she shares how you can help ..
