Two More Bahamians Sign Pro Contracts

GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Seventeen-year-old outfielder Phillando Williams, who hails from Grand Bahama is the latest to sign with a MLB team – the Pittsburgh Pirates.

His signing taking place at Our Lucaya Sunday.

He thanked Neko Grant Jr. for introducing him to the sport of baseball. Grant Jr. died in 2020 and is the son of former Cabinet Minister Neko Grant who was present at the signing.

And then there’s 17-year-old Rohan Culmer, an infielder who signed with the Washington Nationals back here in New Providence on Saturday.

Culer and Williams join Bohan Adderley who signed with the New York Mets, Javado Bain Jr who signed with the Toronto Blue Jays and Trent Wilson, Edwin Darville and Tavanno baker who all signed with the Boston Red Sox last week.

Volleyball

Grand Bahamas Volleyball Association President is Whitney Armbrister who explained the scouting clinic that Bahamas Volleyball and University of The Bahamas held over the weekend.

Bahamas Volleyball Federation treasurer and UB Head Coach Raymond Wilson was at the camp representing both organizations.

Coach Wilson says the Bahamas Games were an eye-opener as far as showing him the kind of talent all around the country.

He plans to travel to several islands to find more players.
