THE BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history, in 2017 ground was broken on the second phase of the multi-million dollar Pointe Development on Bay Street.

That phase of the project included the development of a 100-room, eight-story condominium complex with oceanfront residences and a marina.

The Pointe is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Construction America was being built on six acres of waterfront property adjacent to the British Colonial.

The Pointe’s first phase was centered on the multi-story parking garage at the entrance to downtown Nassau on West Bay Street.

CCA Chairman Ning Yaun spoke at the ceremony.

And in 2015 then Works Minister Philip Davis backtracked on comments he made centering on insurance on a dorm that was destroyed by fire at the BAMSI facility in Andros.

In February, Davis had previously told Parliament the contractor had all risk insurance, but that the insurance had lapsed because the project was not completed on time.
