NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Stellar road users were recently awarded by the Royal Bahamas Police Force Traffic Division.

During a recent operation to mark Police Month, drivers who obeyed the rules of the road were rewarded with a certificate and gift vouchers.

Sergeant Ryan Rolle says all about encouragement and partnering with the community.

Assistant Superintendent Demetria Capron says the Traffic Division is implementing a three-pronged approach to reducing the amount of accidents and traffic fatalities on the streets as well as the number of citations issued.

The plan includes education, incentivization and enforcement.

However, for those that were caught with traffic infractions, well, those users received a different type of voucher.

Now we spoke to some of those safe drivers who were rewarded. They admit the presence of numerous officers on the road could create a bit of concern.

However, they were surprised to be awarded rather than ticketed.
