Bahamas Aquatics President: We’re Going To Leave It To Don Jr. And His Family To Make The Decision
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Bahamas Aquatics Federation President Algernon Cargill said the decision will be up to Don Saunders Jr. and his family on whether he will still compete in the 2024 CARIFTA Aquatics Championships.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – President of the Bahamas Aquatics Federation Algernon Cargill said the decision will be up to Don Saunders Jr. and his family on whether he will still compete in the 2024 CARIFTA Aquatics Championships set to begin on Saturday.
This after Don’s father, Don Saunders Sr. was fatally shot at a club in Gambier Village Wednesday evening after nine.
Don Jr. qualified for this year’s CARIFTA’s Aquatics Team in the Open Water 5K for boys in the 16-18 category; that part of the championships is scheduled for next Wednesday.
Cargill says Don Sr. was very supportive of the swim community and was present at every CARIFTA swimming championship over the last decade.
And as for how the federation will continue to move ahead with this year’s championships?
Bahamas Aquatics Federation officials confirmed to our news that Don Jr. still practiced with his teammates at Goodmans Bay Beach Thursday morning.
