NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A family and local mortician are speaking out over the way the remains of their loved one in Bimini was handled.

Given the sensitivity of the case, they’ve have asked to remain anonymous.

The family raising concerns on the Bimini morgue claiming their loved one was left in a state of advanced decomposition due to the morgue being out of operation.

A viral social media post claiming the morgue was out of operation made the rounds last week saying that paper paperwork needed by the mortician was not ready and that the body was in a bad state.

That mortician confirming those claims saying he was contacted by a local police officer.

Last week Health Minister Dr. Michael Darville told reporters that the mechanical issue at the morgue had been dealt with, saying that an isolated situation should not be blown out of proportion. But to the family, his words rub salt in the wound.
