ISRAEL – On Monday, Israel’s opposition leader Yair Lapid offered to support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in parliament if coalition members quit over a ceasefire deal with Hamas.

Netanyahu resumed talks with Hamas to end Gaza fighting and release hostages.

Some far-right coalition members threatened to quit if the war ends before eradicating Hamas.

Lapid and Labour Party head Yair Golan pledged support for Netanyahu if a deal is made.

Far-right lawmakers, holding 13 seats, oppose the deal, while Lapid’s party holds 24.

Hostage families marched in the Knesset, urging the government to act.
