NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After serving the community and meeting the needs of others for years, Dr. Ajita Wallace-Pinder is now in need of a  helping hand herself. The need? A heart transplant.

Her family, along with the Medical Association of The Bahamas, appealing to the public on her behalf to cover mounting medical expenses.

Dr. Ajita was in the Intensive Care Unit at Doctors Hospital, her heart supported by machines.

Her family says the cost to transport her to a facility in the Cayman Islands ranges between $200K-$300K dollars, the operation itself, stretching into the millions.

Those who know her best say Dr. Wallace-Pinder is a giving physician, who is Caribbean trained and takes pride in building her nation.

The family says they’re grateful for the physicians and staff at Doctors Hospital who’ve cared for Ajita thus far.

They say a go fund me has been set up to facilitate assistance.
