GRAND BAHAMA – Leslie’s Trades, a leading courier service in Freeport, marked a significant milestone in community engagement by hosting its first-ever Back-to-School Giveaway. Held on August 31, 2024, the event was a spirited celebration aimed at equipping local children for the upcoming school year while bringing the community together for a day of fun and support.

The Back-to-School Giveaway was a well-coordinated initiative that brought together various sectors of the Grand Bahama community. Leslie’s Trades, known for its commitment to reliable service, extended its mission to community upliftment by providing school supplies to 150 families in need. The event was invitation-only, ensuring that the assistance reached those most in need, demonstrating the company’s dedication to making a real difference.

Khambrel Ferguson, CEO of Leslie’s Trades, shared his enthusiasm for the initiative, saying, “Supporting our community has always been at the heart of Leslie’s Trades. This event is a dream come true, and it’s just the beginning of our long-term commitment to giving back. I’m grateful to everyone who helped make this happen, including the Grand Bahama Port Authority, Solo Rent A Tent, Nesbitt Rentals, Five Star Variety Rentals, The Rotary Club of Freeport, and Tropical Shipping.”

The event wasn’t just about giving away supplies; it was a full-fledged community celebration. Attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including snow cones, bouncing castles, and entertainment, all contributing to a joyful atmosphere that resonated with both children and parents.

Looking ahead, Ferguson outlined his vision for the future of the initiative, expressing a desire to grow the event each year. “In five years, I envision this event expanding to include textbooks, school uniforms and extending our reach to other islands across The Bahamas,” Ferguson stated.

Parents who attended the event expressed deep appreciation for Leslie’s Trades’ efforts. One local mother, Stacy Rolle, commented, “Leslie’s Trades is doing something truly special. My kids had a blast, and the school supplies will be a huge help.” Another parent, Ranieka Knowles, added, “This event was not only fun but extremely beneficial. We’re grateful for the support.”

The Back-to-School Giveaway Party highlighted Leslie’s Trades’ commitment to community service, a value that the company plans to build upon in the coming years. With this inaugural event, Leslie Trades has set a strong foundation for becoming a key supporter of the Grand Bahama community.
