NASSAU, BAHAMAS – With Hurricane Milton drawing closer and closer to Florida, cargo vessels normally making the journey to Florida have been docked until further notice.

That was the case for the three ships from Roro’s Shipping which usually sails to West Palm Beach.

Hurricane Milton is predicted to be a major storm when it slams into Florida later Wednesday night.

Floridians are being warned to prepare for the worst hurricane they’ve ever experienced.

But the system is also impacting local shipping companies. Other freight companies shipping to Central and Southern Family Islands were taking freight in hopes of leaving before the weather deteriorated.

The passage of Hurricane Milton prompted meteorologists to put Abaco, Grand Bahama and Bimini residents under a tropical storm warning.

Choppy seas also caused fishermen to have to stay ashore.
