NY Mets Advance, NY Yankees Take Series Lead

NEW YORK, U.S.A. – The big week for Bahamians in the MLB playoffs continues – Antoan Richardson’s New York Mets are off to the NLCS while Jazz Chisholm Jr’s New York Yankees are one win away from the ALCS.

Francisco Lindor’s grand slam Wednesday night was the latest in late game heroics for the mets and sparked a 4-1 win to eliminate the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLDS.

The Mets advance to the NLCS for the first time since 2015.

Over in the American League, Chisholm and the Yankees won 3-2 on the road Wednesday night and took a 2-1 lead over the Kansas City Royals.

Game four is set for Thursday at 8:08pm at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.

From the introductions to every at-bat, Chisholm heard the boos and taunts from the more than 40,000 fans in attendance.

WNBA

The WNBA Finals get underway tonight with Jonquel Jones and the New York Liberty hosting the Minnesota Lynx tonight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Minnesota had the edge in the regular season series, 3-1, but Jones said the Liberty has game planned to adjust on their way to winning the first title in franchise history.

Baseball

Preparations continue for The Bahamas to host the top baseball teams in the region at the sixth Caribbean Cup.

Geron Sands will be the team’s manager, assisted by coaches Albert Cartwright, Mario Ford, and Ken Adderley.

Avard Hart is the general manager, Donovan Cox is the pitching coordinator, Trae Sweeting will be the team’s trainer, and Nicholas Morley is the physical trainer. 

The tournament will be hosted October 23-28 at the Andre Rodgers National Stadium.

The Bahamas improved their ranking from number 59 to number 47 in the World Baseball Softball Confederation rankings.

NBA

Buddy Hield and the Golden State Warriors look like a perfect match.

His excellency finished with 22 points in the warriors’ 122-112 win over the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center in California.

Back in the confines of a familiar arena against his former team – Hield shot 8-9 from the field and 6-7 from beyond the arch.

Bahamas Bowl Update

We head into the college football weekend checking in on team’s from the MAC and Conference-USA. W’re getting closer to the Bahamas Bowl.

Jacksonville State, continues to dominate in just their second fbs season and opened Conference USA play with a 63-24 win at Kennesaw State. 

Gamecocks dual threat quarterback Tyler Huff threw for 193 yards and  rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns.

In MACtion, toledo won 30-20 over Miami (Ohio) to improve to 4-1.

Western Michigan running back Jaden Nixon had 14 carries for 124 yards and three touchdowns in a 45-42 win over Ball State.
