NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Several Bahamasair passengers are stranded in Orlando after their flight was delayed twice this morning and later cancelled. The disruptions stem from a sickout by at least a dozen flight attendants amid ongoing pay disputes.

Jana Bootle – Passenger, Bahamasair
“I was over here with my best friend to go to a Rod Wave concert. And I have work tonight, tomorrow, and I’m also supposed to be working the event on the 21st.”

For Bootle, this situation is just one of many inconveniences faced by passengers impacted by the delays.

Audrey – Passenger, Bahamasair
“I came over and went on a cruise, and I was expecting to go home today, and here I am stuck. I don’t have anybody over here, so I’m not sure what I’m going to do.”

For one senior citizen, her health condition makes getting home urgent.

Deidre Martin – Passenger, Bahamasair
“I do have health challenges. I have a pacemaker, I have a doctor’s appointment, my daughter is over here, she’s on the Nassau flight, and I’m on the Freeport flight, and, you know, this is just a disaster.”

In a statement today, Bahamasair promised to send “rescue flights” in and out of Fort Lauderdale to accommodate affected passengers. However, for those stuck in Orlando, the process is far from simple.

As Christmas approaches, passengers say the ordeal is putting a damper on their holiday joy.

Ruthmae Sears – Passenger, Bahamasair
“I do believe having a plan in place could be helpful to be better for everyone because this is the holiday season. We wanna spread a spirit of love rather than being a Grinch during the holiday.”
