NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A large crowd of BPSU members showing up to Parliament this morning looking to get answers. Union Chief Kimsley Ferguson approaching the acting PM as he headed inside. And, he didn’t stand alone. He was joined by National Alliance Trade Union Congress President Belinda Wilson, who did not back down.  

The Bahamas Public Services Union taking its concerns to the House of Assembly in hopes of getting answers, after an emergency meeting with members Tuesday night.

The union was joined by Bahamas National Alliance Trade Union Congress President Belinda Wilson and Secretary General Theresa Mortimer.

It wasn’t long before Acting Prime Minister Chester Cooper arrived and the trio sought to get answers.

The BPSU is seeking to get its finished industrial agreements signed amid what Ferguson is calling stalled negotiations by the government. 

Cooper was asked for a timeline for the finished industrial agreements for five government entities where members are represented by the BPSU.

Cooper giving the assurance that the matters will be addressed when State Public Service Minister Pia Rolle returns to country. 

Public Service and Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell is also out of the country. 

The acting prime minister telling union representatives that meetings like this do not need to happen in the streets.
