NASSAU, BAHAMAS – More calls for the immigration minister’s resignation following an unusual granting of citizenship. The Coalition of Independents are speaking out and they’re giving the government 7 days to respond.

While government ministers gathered for the weekly cabinet meeting Tuesday morning protestors gathered outside the Office of The Prime Minister calling for the resignation of Immigration Minister Keith Bell.

Leading the charge was Leader of the Coalition of Independents Lincoln Bain.

Bain and his supporters were armed with a letter addressed to the prime minister demanding Bell’s termination and outlining some of the reasons they feel he should be terminated.

You may recall the immigration minister was recently caught in a viral audio clip granting citizenship to three people during a funeral service.

But the Coalition wasn’t alone in their fight.

Free National Movement MP Iram Lewis also calling for Bell’s resignation.

This is the second group to protest against the immigration minister, last week the Free National Movement staged two protests calling for Bell’s resignation, however, Bain is calling for the opposition to do more.

After several attempts to hand deliver the letter to the prime minister’s office were blocked by police officers, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of The Prime Minister David Davis met Bain personally to collect, inking his signature to confirm receipt.
