NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Supreme Court jury has unanimously convicted a police constable of abusing his authority to solicit sex from a woman in 2023.

Constable Shaquille Williamson faced a charge of procuration over the July 5 incident.
Williamson has been remanded to prison to await sentencing.

He returns to court on August 18 for the penalty phase of his trial.

Williamson was in a patrol car alone when he met a woman and man having sex on the hood of a car on Yamacraw Beach.

After ordering the couple to get dressed, Williamson ran name checks on both of them, which came back clear.

However, Williamson lied and told the woman that she had an outstanding warrant. That’s when he allegedly told the woman she could avoid arrest if she had sex with him.

The woman made a frantic call to the police control room, while Williamson was talking to her boyfriend.

Police units rushed to the scene and Williamson was disarmed and arrested.

In his testimony, Williamson that while at the Elizabeth Estates Police Station he received an anonymous call concerning a suspicious car on the beach.

He said that after he told her that she had a warrant, the woman offered him sex and food to avoid arrest.
