GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – It was an emotional night at the Free National Movement Headquarters in Grand Bahama Tuesday, as supporters closely watched election results roll in.

While some supporters celebrated early numbers for their candidates, the mood quickly shifted as vote counts began trending away from the party.

Shortly after 10 PM, with most constituencies reporting, party leader Michael Pintard officially conceded defeat.

Pintard revealed that he had spoken with Progressive Liberal Party Leader Philip Davis moments earlier to congratulate him on the victory.

He admits the results were not what the party had hoped for, but thanked Bahamians for exercising their democratic right to vote.

He also expressed gratitude to party supporters, including those in Marco City.

Pintard, who suggested that the Coalition of Independents and independent candidates may have pulled support away from the FNM, was also asked whether he intends to remain leader of the party following the election loss.

Now, the FNM secured three of Grand Bahama’s five seats, where Pintard retained his Marco City seat, while the FNM also secured victories in Central Grand Bahama and East Grand Bahama.

Member of Parliament elect for Central Grand Bahama, Frazette Gibson, and and East Grand Bahama MP-elect, Kwasi Thompson, were among supporters celebrating their constituency victories Tuesday night.
