NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 35-year-old employee at the Office of the Prime Minister was sentenced to four and a half years in prison after he was found with an illegal arsenal of eight firearms and 979 rounds of ammunition.

Police seized the illegal stash when they raided Carlson Pinder’s apartment on Bradley Street in Sunset Park on September 28.

Pinder, who works in the IT Department of the Office of the Prime Minister, claimed that he found the weapons and ammunition on a dead friend’s property in Andros.

According to him, a 13-year-old boy and a 33-year-old Cordario Lewis who were living with him had nothing to do with the contraband.

Nonetheless, they were charged alongside him.

Pinder was sentenced guilty after pleading guilty before Acting Chief Magistrate Roberto Reckley.

Lewis and the teen were each granted $2,500 bail. They will return to court on October 25 to learn whether prosecutors intend to proceed with the case against them.
