GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The answer to the country’s crime problem is tied to saving our young men, according to Canon Norman Lightbourne, rector of Pro-Cathedral of Christ the King on Grand Bahama.

Lightbourne saying we are losing too many young men.

More than 125 murders were recorded in 2022 and the vast majority of victims were men. The new year opened with a bang – a double homicide involving a man and a woman.

Lightbourne believes the issue goes back to the home, where he says many children are growing up fatherless.

Despite oftentimes doing it successfully, the rector says it’s difficult for women to raise boys on their own.

The Grand Bahama rector reasons that unless we address this issue, the killings will continue.
