NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Autopises are underway to determine the exact cause of death of three American who were found dead in Exuma, Friday.

The three victims were discovered in two villas at the all-inclusive Sandals Emerald Bay Resort in Exuma.

Police say they were responding to the the first call when they learned of the additional victims. While police on the island immediately ruled out foul play, there continues to be speculation about what caused their deaths.

International news outlets began reporting on the mysterious deaths and investigation over the weekend. Also over the weekend, the bodies of victims were transferred to the capital where the investigation to determine what caused the deaths of the three tourists continued.

The victims are Michael Phillips, 68, and his wife, Robbie Phillips, 65, of Tennessee, according to Police Commissioner Paul Rolle, who revealed the identities in a press conference, Monday.

Sixty-four-year-old Vincent Chiarella, has been identified as the third victim.

Chiarella’s wife, 65-year-old Donnis Chiarella was airlifted to New Providence on Friday night, and was later airlifted to a Florida hospital where she continues to receive medical attention.

The commissioner confirming pathology samples taken from the victims’ hotel rooms at the resort are also being tested abroad.

Commissioner Rolle says both couples sought medical attention before the incident, but he declined to provide more information about that visit to the local clinic.
