NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man left paralyzed by an apparent revenge shooting has been convicted of murder and attempted murder.

Twenty-three-year-old Jawuan Armbrister, who is now confined to a wheelchair, was found guilty of the September 18, 2021 murder of Devonte Brown and attempted murder of Valverde Butler.

Armbrister, who was on bail, was remanded to prison to await a sentencing hearing that is set for August 7.

Prosecutors alleged that Armbrister and the victims were at a club on Carmichael Road, where he and Brown had an exchange of words.

After they left the club, Armbrister and another allegedly fired shots from a black Honda Fit, killing Brown, the passenger of a motorcycle, and leaving the bike’s operator paralyzed.

On May 6, 2022, while on bail for the incident, Armbrister was left paralyzed after he was shot multiple times outside of his home in Bain Town

Two of Brown’s cousins are charged with his attempted murder.

Armbrister’s co-accused, Damutri Thurston, died as a result of a September 6, 2022 shooting.
