NASSAU, BAHAMAS – It was a memorable night for Mikhail McLean. In his first game as Head Coach of the Bahamas Senior Men’s National Team, The Bahamas delivered a dominant 123-74 victory over Jamaica in a crucial FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifier.

Following the win, McLean credited his players for their preparation, energy, and unselfish play, saying the team executed the game plan from the opening tip and maintained its intensity for all 40 minutes.

The victory improves the Bahamas’ position in group B while also giving McLean his first international win as a head coach, just weeks after being appointed to lead the program.

However, the job is far from finished.

The Bahamas now turns its attention to Puerto Rico tonight knowing another strong performance will be needed as the team continues its push to advance to the second round of FIBA World Cup Qualifiers.

Edgecombe Applauds Team Effort

While VJ Edgecombe led all scorers with 26 points, the young star was quick to credit the entire team following The Bahamas’ 123-74 victory over Jamaica.

Edgecombe said the difference was the contribution of the supporting cast, as The Bahamas received production from up and down the roster.

The numbers certainly back that up.

The Bahamas shot an outstanding 57% from the field and 51% from three-point range, connecting on 19 of its 37 attempts from beyond the arc.

The bench was equally impressive, combining for 44 points, led by Domnick Bridgewater’s 23-point outburst off the bench.

Jaraun Burrows added 6 points, Leano Rolle scored 7, and Kentwan Smith chipped in 5 as every player who saw the floor contributed.

The Bahamas also finished with 27 assists on 44 made field goals, a reflection of the unselfish style of play that Edgecombe said helped power the team to a 49-point victory.
