MIAMI – We spent the last weekend in May at the highly anticipated 19th Annual Best of the Best Music Fest in Miami, and it was nothing short of unforgettable.

A reported twenty thousand attendees took over Bayfront Park, waving their flags in a spectacular, colorful display of Caribbean pride and culture.

As we entered the venue, we were immediately hypnotized by the rich aromas of jerk seasoning, fried fish, and fresh conch salad, an irresistible welcome to what would be a day full of flavor, rhythm, and unity.

The vibes were set early. Opening acts charged the crowd with contagious energy, fueling the atmosphere for what would become a full-blown cultural explosion.

The festival’s impressive lineup featured a dynamic mix of rising stars and legendary icons. From Jemere Morgan, who surprised fans with an appearance by his father, Gramps Morgan, to the ever-vibrant Nadine Sutherland, the stage lit up with hit after hit. The crowd sang and swayed to performances from Chronic Law, and even broke into a nostalgic electric slide with the Queen of Reggae herself, Marcia Griffiths.

The energy only grew with powerful sets from Romain Virgo, Wayne Wonder, and Skinny Fabulous. Then came the legendary Beres Hammond, setting the perfect tone for an epic finale: a show-stopping performance by none other than Gargamel, better known as Buju Banton.

The Best of the Best Music Fest revived my love for our regional heritage, confirming, once again, that being from the Caribbean is a badge of honor and there’s nothing sweeter.
