NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prime Minister Philip Davis says the deadly Flamingo Air plane crash in Andros that took 10 lives this afternoon signals a time for unity.

Authorities said the aircraft was on its way to San Andros Airport after departing Lynden Pindling International Airport when it encountered difficulties and crashed into bushes before landing.

A sign of that solidarity was evident from the presence of Free National Movement Leader Michael Pintard, who joined Davis at this evening’s press conference.

Pintard also offering his party’s support for emergency personnel, first responders, and everyone involved in the response effort, while also calling for unity during a difficult time for the country.

As the nation mourns, investigators now have the difficult task of piecing together what went wrong.

Commissioner of Police, Shanta Knowles, officially confirmed that all 10 people, including the pilot have died.

Knowles telling reporters at the office of the prime minister’s press conference that a team of investigators is in Andros to help lead those efforts.

Additionally, she did confirm police have a listing of victims’ names, but will not release their identities until family members are identified to ensure their listing is correct.
