NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Prosecutors have challenged a judge’s decision to direct a jury to acquit a man accused of causing a fatal accident.

Delmaro Johnson was driving a Honda Pilot on Carmichael Road on April 23, 2025 when he collided with Timothy Stubbs, causing his death.

Prosecutors alleged that Johnson was fighting with his girlfriend Kiara Murphy when the collision took place.

Johnson told police that Murphy grabbed the steering wheel causing him to swerve into Stubbs’ lane.

Prosecutors charged them both with vehicular manslaughter, but Justice Neil Brathwaite ruled that only Murphy had a case to answer at the close of the prosecution’s case.

Following the decision, she pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight months in prison.
