DAY 2 CARIFTA Highlights: Track Athlete Breaks Record

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Day two saw an action packed evening at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium with Team Bahamas stepping away with more medals and broken records.

A historic day at the 50th CARIFTA Games saw team Bahamas rack up an additional 15 medals on day 2.

They included:

Gold in the U-17 Boys 4×100 metres.

A silver in the U-17 Girls 4×100 metres after the Jamaican team was disqualified for a lane infringement.

And, a bronze in the U-20 Girls 4×100 metres.

Sunday also proving to be a record breaking night for Brendon Vanderpool who broke the CARIFTA record in the pole vault with a height of 5.06 metres.

Vanderpool says it’s hard to describe the feeling of breaking his own father’s CARIFTA record.

Tyler Cash from team Bahamas also won the bronze.
