UNITED STATES – A United States woman who unknowingly carried and delivered a baby boy who was not biologically hers is launching legal proceedings against an IFV clinic over the mix-up, after being forced to give up custody.

In May 2023, she underwent IVF treatment at Coastal Fertility and later learned the embryo she carried belonged to another couple.

Born in December 2023, the baby’s ethnicity didn’t match Murray or her chosen donor. Despite forming a bond with him, DNA tests in January 2024 confirmed the mix-up, and the biological parents gained custody when he was three months old.

The incident is one of several recent IVF mix-up lawsuits in the United States.
