White Ribbon Day Being Observed Tuesday

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – November 1 marks the start of White Ribbon month. It’s a movement to get men and boys to stop violence against women and girls.

It also promotes gender equality locally the issues have made headlines – more recently over the issue of marital rape.

Officials from The Bahamas Crisis Center and the Rotary Clubs of The Bahamas will pin members of parliament with the white ribbon on Tuesday, before they head into Parliament.

Rotary partners with the Crisis Center in an attempt to get men to do their parts in spreading the word.

Both groups meeting with Social Services Minister Obie Wilchcombe who thanked them for the important work.
